Teacher’s Instructions from Second Semester Packet

Week 3, Lesson 2
Theme: Health

I. Review (10 minutes)
A. Write the date and greet the class
B. Ask class questions using Do and Did
C. Ask students to review words describing personalities (funny, nice, mean, angry, etc)
D. Explain the month’s theme (la salud)

II. Direct Instruction: “I feel…” (15 minutes)
A. Ask students what “I feel” means (me siento); give examples
B. Conjugate “To feel” orally multiple times; emphasize 3rd person singular
C. Introduce new vocabulary words
hungry tired sick weak
hot cold sad nervous
good better
D. Ask students how they feel (teach “I don’t feel…” if necessary)
E. Students ask each other : “Do you feel nervous?”, etc.

III. Charades: (10 minutes)
A. Write vocab words on the board; act out feelings, students guess
B. Erase words; ask students to use “I feel” with their answers
C. Write pronouns on the board (I, we, they, he, you all, she, etc); act out words and ask them to use the appropriate form of “feel” with the pronoun you choose
D. Ask students to act out phrases for classmates

IV. Describing Scenes (20 minutes):
A. Students describe how the people in the pictures feel.
B. Ask students to write 1 sentence describing one of the pictures; check for spelling.
C. Give students magazines; ask them to find examples of people who are nervous, sad, cold, etc. Students cut out pictures and tape them to the page in their books where there is space over the vocab words.

V. Reading Comprehension (10 minutes)
A. Students read paragraph.
B. Discuss.
